Self-Care Practice Through Ayurveda & Yoga

In Ayurveda, the Sanskrit concept of self-care has several meanings and translations. It extends beyond modern ideas of pampering; it is a holistic philosophy centered on living in harmony with nature and staying grounded in your own being. One aspect of this philosophy is physical harmony and mental clarity (swasthya). Another is establishing traditional daily routines (dinacharya). Found within the limbs of yoga are the internal observances known as the niyamas: purity, contentment, self-discipline, self-study, and oneness. Other aspects include mindful diet, lifestyle, and conduct (palana), as well as selfless service (seva). We are all caregivers in some way—for our children, parents, friends, clients, and neighbors. Self-care in all aspects is essential for maintaining our own well-being. When life becomes busy, hectic, stressful, and complicated, we can easily become depleted and disconnected from ourselves. In Ayurveda, these are often signs that Vata, the principle of movement, has become out of balance. The Ayurvedic approach is simple: simplify.
In this workshop, we will explore Ayurvedic caregiving routines, review practical tips for supporting immunity, and learn Vata-balancing practices to help restore steadiness, calm, and resilience. Open to all, no experience needed.
