The Military Heritage Museum first opened its doors to the public in Fishermen’s Village in Punta Gorda on Pearl Harbor Day 2001. The goal of the Museum — then as now — was to honor veterans from all branches and eras of U.S. military service & to help the general public better understand the contributions & various experiences of American servicemen & women through authentic artifacts & individual stories.
The Military Heritage Museum has a reputation among tourists & the local community as SW Florida’s most treasured museum, in large part because of its personal touch. Veterans lead all tours & offer visitors a unique perspective & understanding of key moments in history that cannot be obtained from a textbook
Our goal, is to honor America’s military veterans, to educate & inspire current & future generations of Americans
The new museum is located on 900 West Marion Ave Punta Gorda, just a few steps away from its former location in Fishermen’s Village.
