Session l: The Somatic Psychology of Yoga: Your Neurology is Not Your Destiny
February 19th 10am – 1pm
We all come into this world with a nervous system that is wired for survival. This is helpful for basic existence, but not for spiritual growth, fulfillment, or happiness. Too often, our involuntary actions are defensive and unproductive; they can thwart our best interests and sabotage relationships. Our “factory setting” needs some adjustments! The good news is that this adjustment is possible: we can understand our neural networks and reprogram them so that we build more social connection, compassion, and joy. In this workshop, Dr. Carrie will help you understand and experience how the physical and mental practices of yoga lead us toward fulfillment and freedom, our full human potential!
Session ll: Somatic Psychology: Applying Yoga Philosophy to Life
February 19th 2 - 4pm
For thousands of years, yoga has offered insight about the workings of the human mind, and advice for managing its wayward negative tendencies (blame, greed, anger, hatred, jealousy, anxiety, etc.). The Yoga Sutra clearly defines our mental challenges, and gives us tools and insights that help us cultivate a calm, peaceful, and joyous mind. In this follow up to Session l, Dr. Carrie invites you to take seriously the wisdom of the Yoga Sutra (chapters/padas 1 and 2), and use its principle off the mat, to transform your mind
